Oh man, I haven’t posted a Kali’s Favourite Things since 2020! One could say there were a lot of Kali’s Least Favourite Things during those years, but I’m back with these goodies!

EYE MASK | Arvesa 24K Golden Eye Mask

I guess I’m at the age where I need an eye mask, even though I’m certain I’m still 28. I leave these in the fridge and they make a visible difference!

SKINCARE | NUM Skin

The beautiful and kind owner of Grace Hill Salon has curated this non-toxic tallow cream and it is a keeper! Rich in vitamins and fatty acids, it really leaves your skin feeling better than ever, and it’s not greasy! For me personally it has been fantastic as a moisturizer, primer, helps with dark circles under the eyes, sun burn and bug bites! Available at Grace Hill Salon and Fortify in Winnipeg!

HAIR | Madden West Salon

After my longtime stylist and friend decided to selfishly pursue a career in law I was forced to begin my search for someone new. I’m pretty particular, blonde hair is a niche not many have mastered. After trying a few different stylists at different salons I ended up in the chair of Mikaela Wiebe at her at-home salon, Madden West. Not only is she great at what she does, she is also a lovely human, which is a bonus when you have to spend hours together! 5 stars all around!

HAIR | Monat: The Champ Conditioning Dry Shampoo

Okay, I’m not super into MLM, but I have tried a lot of dry shampoos and this one is by far my favourite. Blends in really well, smells good, long lasting, leaves hair shiny AND is said to be a non-toxic, more natural formula. It does cost more than your average brand but goes on sale throughout the year!

GITCH | Knix

Ladies, if you do not own Knix underwear, you need to. Whether Aunt Flo is heavy and you need backup, or you don’t want to wear something on your lighter days, or you pee yourself when you sneeze, you need these!

BLING | 88 Carats

Whether you’re looking for an engagement/wedding ring, custom jewelry or anything in between, Danielle is your girl! She has made two custom rings from my grandparents gold and diamonds for me, and also sized and cleaned an heirloom ring. She is lovely and knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with!

TRAVEL | Leanne Unger

When we were considering going to an all inclusive resort we scoured the internet for something that would meet all of our needs (price, location, flights, etc.) and at the end of the day we had pretty much given up. My friend recommended their travel agent, Leanne Unger, and I promptly reached out to her and within 2 weeks we had our trip booked! Leanne was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, had many great recommendations and really catered to our needs. She provided us with a lot of helpful information before our trip that we wouldn’t have known otherwise. Leanne will be our girl for every future trip!

TRAVEL | The Rosé Beach House

One spontaneous Monday evening in the summer of 2022, after realizing that Winnipeg Beach still has a Pizza Place restaurant (my favourite!), we drove past this adorable pink motel right across from the beach. In the summer of 2023 when we were considering where to take the kids for a fun weekend away, the pink motel came to mind. We booked 2 nights at The Rosé Beach House in The Grace suite, an adorably pink on pink room. We spent one afternoon in Gimli, and the rest in Winnipeg Beach. I got to have Pizza Place, the kids had ice cream for breakfast (there’s a great ice cream & coffee stop around the corner), the beautiful beach is right across the road from the motel, and each night we sat outside enjoying live music from the restaurant next door.

RESTAURANT | Santa Ana Pizzeria

When we go out for dinner we often go Italian, so when we found this place online we called to make a reservation for that weekend and I think the girl on the other end laughed at me! This gave me a good indication that we were onto something. We ended up making a reso for over a month later, but it was worth it! This charming little bistro has amazing pizza and pasta and all the extras that come with that.

PHOTOGRAPHER | Kristy Anne Photography

I put four empty frames up in my dining room in hopes that it would motivate me to arrange family pictures. It didn’t work. Then my children started using them to display their own artwork, anything from a drawing to a cereal box taped to the frame. That worked. When Kristy posted that she had some mini-shoots available I booked one right away. The only one out of the four of us (5 if you include the dog) who likes having their picture taken is my daughter, and my son not only doesn’t like having his picture taken but is usually upside-down. I didn’t think Kristy would be able to capture anything worth keeping. I was very wrong! In those short 15 minutes she was able to gift us with many amazing photos that I will forever cherish!

PODCAST | Huberman Lab

I came across this dude whilst endlessly scrolling through reels and it’s probably the only good thing to come out of all of that scrolling! Taken from his website, “Andrew Huberman, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist and tenured professor in the department of neurobiology, and by courtesy, psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. In 2021, Dr. Huberman launched the Huberman Lab podcast. The podcast is frequently ranked in the top 10 of all podcasts globally and is often ranked #1 in the categories of Science, Education, and Health & Fitness.” I’ve found many of his podcasts to be eye-opening, informative and helpful!

COOKWARE | Our Place

My Dad gifted me a large “Perfect Pot” from Our Place last year and it’s so pretty I feel like it should have a permanent home on top of the stove! When they had their boxing day sale I ordered my second piece, the “Always Pan”. This cookware is beautiful, easy to clean, and made with 100% post-consumer recycled aluminum and without potentially harmful toxins.

BOOK | Think Again

By author Adam Grant, this was a great read with the main theme being The power of knowing what you don’t know. How many of us have thoughts and opinions that are so hardwired in our brains that we refuse to spend anytime acknowledging that it may be time to revisit, rethink and reframe these very notions? The benefit this rethinking can have on our relationships, our careers, and more. This book made being wrong (or at least, admitting you’re wrong) look desirable!

Think Again is a book about the benefit of doubt, and about how we can get better at embracing the unknown and the joy of being wrong. Evidence has shown that creative geniuses are not attached to one identity, but constantly willing to rethink their stances and that leaders who admit they don’t know something and seek critical feedback lead more productive and innovative teams.”

BEAUTY | Mascara

Okay, I couldn’t decide on 1 because I love all 3 of these mascaras for different reasons!

Beautycounter | Think Big All-in-one Mascara
- I love this one because it delivers results with a clean formula!

Too Faced | Better Than Sex Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara
- This one is totally volumizing to the max!

Benefit Cosmetics | Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara
- I suppose if I had to pick just one, it would be this one! Clean finish, no clumps, extra length!
